My english course

One of the most important things in my life is the language. The language is the base of the social interaction. The language is reflected in all the things of our daily life.

There are many languages around the world. Some of them are really complex, because they have various tones or symbols that the Spanish doesn’t have. For example, the Thai people use different zones of the vocal structure to express some tones and they don’t use the letters that we use.

I have always had a great admiration for the people who know many languages. I have always wanted to learnt Japanese or German, because I think that theses languages are very cool, although they are very difficult.

I had great English teachers in my school, but I want to improve my English with the course at the university.

I began my English course in 2008. I had to take an English exam the first week to evaluate my English knowledge’s. It was a hard experience because it was the first test of the year. My final score wasn’t very poor, but I had to start the level two of the English course, anyway. The level two was a special experience, because the teacher was very strict with us. She has a fixation with the English book. However, I could brush up my English learning or remembering other words.

In 2009, I started the level three of my English course. My teacher was Rosa Zagal.I think that the level three was a great experience, because I could learn more English with the blogger. I think blogger is a great tool to learn English, because we can know other words or review our grammar mistakes with the teachers. Besides, the students can write their opinions or stories about different topics.

I began my final English course (the level four) this second semester. My teacher is Alvaro. He is a nice guy and a great teacher. Alvaro knows many things about the English language. I think he is very patient with us. I have learnt many things with him, especially, phonetic expressions.

Summary, I have had a good experience with the English course at the university. However I’m disagree with some things of it. For example, using English’s book is very boring, so, as a teacher, I would extend the time using other methods to learn English. I would use the dramatization, dialogues or the meetings with English native people.

challenges of my discipline

My discipline is facing different challenges at this time. In the technological area my discipline has to make new tools to find out evidences of mental illnesses in the brain. But, in our country, we need improve our cognitive tests, because many of them are very oldest.

Also, as psychologists we have to change the social structure to improve the psychological service. Thus it is necessary create more places to treat the mental illnesses. Our disciplines have to create therapists to change some social problems: bullying, homiceides against women and discrimination.

We have to improve the conditions of the people with serious problems, like schizophrenics. Today, they don’t receive good treatments because our hospitals don’t have the facilities to help them. Another important challenge is regulate the distribution of the medicaments in the psychiatrist therapists, because many of the pills produce secondary effects in the people.
In the educational area, we have to face the ordinary problems of the classroom. One of the ways to change this situation is making a better the communication between psychologists and teachers.

I think is important to demand more resources to change the currently situation of myr discipline. Also, it is important improve the professional level of our psychologists. As a consequence, we could see better therapies and results in the patients. Maybe, one of the benefits of this would be the decrease of the levels of discrimination to the people with mental ilnesses.
In the other hand, we have to regulate the university system, especially in our country. There are many universities giving psychology in Chile and many of them are private. Theses universities only want the money of the students and they don’t give good lessons. So, this situation decreases the quality of the Chilean psychology.

The Chilean government has to supervise our discipline developing ethical commissions, because we can not play with the problems of the people.

We need more money, supervision and control of the psychologists if we want to make a social change in our country.

My activities

Today I have to write about the activities that I love to do in my free time.
The activities I enjoy the most when I have some free time are listening to music, reading a book and surfing over internet. Those activities are very important in my life because I can enjoy the life.

I always try to have the time to listening music because it is a very important activity in my life, in fact the music go with me to any place. I listen to music everyday in any place. I listen to music alone in my bedroom or on the subway. When I don’t have to read any article for the university I take the advantage to listen to music.

The second activity what I like is reading a book. I like a lot the books, specially, the realistic books. The last semester I read a Haruki Murakami’s book called “Kafka en la orilla”. It was a magical connection, because I couldn’t stop of read. I liked very much the characters and the story. The last summer I read “La razon de los amantes” written by Pablo Simonetti, a popular Chilean writer. He is a greatest writer and his stories are very fresh. When I read a book I try to do it in bedroom but if I want to read and there is noise I put my earphone to block it.

Surfing over internet is the third activity that I enjoy because I can read some bloggers or I can watch videos on youtube. I look for some concerts of my favorites artists or I watch some shows of comedy. My favorites American comedians are Sarah Silverman and Bill Maher. They are so hilarious; in fact Bill Maher has a monologue about the religion. Sometimes, I look for some documentaries or movie in youtube. If I have the time to surf on internet I visit different websites, I read the newspaper or I review my mails.

Well I have to go to the next class. So I cannot follow with this post.

Goodbye

my faculty

The current situation in my faculty is very bad, because we have many problems. We don’t have the optimum facilities to do all the things that we want.

For example, our library doesn’t have all the books that we need and it is very small. When we want to study there, we can’t get focus because there are many people talking in it. Sometimes we can’t find the articles or books that we need, so we have to go to others faculties to get them. Besides, we have to improve the behavior lab, because some students make experimental researches with animals and they don’t have the resources to do it. Also, we need a study room to work in groups if we have to make a project.

The first step to deal with this situation is the organization. We have to change our leaders because they don’t have done anything to transform this situation. After this, we must to demand more economical resources to buy better facilities.

If we have the possibility to improve the situation in our faculty, many people would be happy, because they could make many things related to the career. Besides, our faculty could be recognize as a advanced place to make researches and seminars in this area. If we achieve the resources to build a good lab we could do programs to help our community.

the music

I like music very much. Sincerely, I like different styles of music. I don’t have one favourite music style because I know various artists from different countries. In fact, I know some Asian bands.

The music represents a lot of things in my life, so it is very important in my daily life. The music is important because makes me remember different situations that I have lived or people who I have met. I love the power of the music to evocate different smells or dialogues in me. The music makes me feel in company every day, for that reason I have my I-Pod always with me. I spend a lot of time listening music, so I use many batteries and I have to buy good earphones. I think that I spend three hours a day listening music.

Music’s got an especial quality, because it helps me to change my mood. So, when I wake up with a bad mood, I listen to music and I get happy.

I know various bands from different places. Ikimonogakari (いきものがかり) is a Japanese band of pop music. They have good songs and greatest s videos; I like them because they have an interesting esthetic and it is very childhood I have to say. I f you want to listen a great song of them, here’s a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrqKk3_KCS8

Wir sind Helden is a German band. They have good songs too. They represent the new way to make rock music in Germany. This is their song “Nur ein Wort” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVmXgOQNtNQ

Summary form the Guardian

I chose an article wrote by Paul Vaughan on Wednesday 15 August 2007. The headline is “Government extends dignity campaign to mental health patients”

The Britain’s government extends the “dignity care” campaign to the people with mental health difficulties. In fact, the care services minister Ivan Lewis commented the highly vulnerability and the discrimination who suffer this people. The English government will extend the campaign to incentive the social support to this people.

Paul Farmer, Mind's chief executive, said that this campaign can help to decrease the levels of discrimination. Besides, he explains that the people who receive a respectful and kindness treat could be getting an improvement in their mental ilness or esteem.

The campaign will be reformulated to include the old people who have mental difficulties. The extension of the campaign will focus on three key areas - tackling stigma, older people's mental health and acute inpatient care.

The announcement by Mr Lewis coincides with the recognition of the 1000th 'Dignity Champion', an event where many people claims improvements in the service that older people receive. Mr Lewis said one thousand people including volunteers, carers and professionals had signed up to the champion of the rights of older people in hospitals and nursing homes. “We genuinely need people like this to be the voice and ear of colleagues and professionals to promote dignity”, pointed out Lewis.

The first part of the campaign has a positive action with the people with mental illness and the government has the same hope in the campaign second’s part

my special dish?

Sincerely, I don’t have a favourite dish, because the food doesn’t have a big significance in my life. I just eat because without the food I wouldn’t live. “I eat to live not live to eat”

There is a special flavour that I like; the “Pastelera” is a kind of pudding made of corn. Besides, the “Pastelera” has raisins, egg and olives. I love the sweet flavor of this dish, because you can add sugar.

I have never cooked the “Pastelera” but I think that it would be very easy. I would grind the corn and then I would include the others ingredients. I‘d eat this dish to celebrate the “national holidays”. I would prepare this dish in the house of my uncles, because they live in the country
Well, I have ate this fish only in my house with my family so I don`t have greatest or importants memories enjoying the “Pastelera”. Actually, I like “Pastelera” because I don’t eat red meat. I have eaten this dish with my nuclear family and I think that they love it.

Whatever, I think that “Pastelera” is a great food because you can eat a lot and you don`t feel full at all. You can add any drink to eat this dish, If you want it. So I recommend this dish because it is very light. Come on!!! Go to the kitchen and prepare the “Pastelera”.

meeting Santiago

If you come to Santiago you should go to some interesting places. You can go to “Estación central” and see the oldest trains of Chile. Also, you can visit the central park called Bernardo O’Higgins, this park has many attractive things; you can buy traditional handicraft or riding boats. But if you want to know about our history you have to go to “La Moneda”, the official house, where the president works.

The best way to travel around Santiago is the subway, because it isn’t very expensive at all. The bohemian route starts in some places as “Bellavista neighborhood” or “Suecia neighborhood”, you can go to clubs and drink a lot there. The “Bellavista neighborhood” is a very popular place in Santiago, where everybody goes to have fun. But if you want to have sex you have to visit San Camilo’s street or “El golf neighborhood”, and pay for it.

Besides, you can eat Chilean food in some places as “Mercado central” or “La piojera”, these places are very cheap and they have the typical dishes, so you can meet the Chilean gastronomy.

I don’t remember other places to visit. But the best way to meet Santiago is wander across the city.

My last film

“Notes on a scandal” was the last film that I saw. This English film was directed by Richard Eyre in 2006. This movie is an adaptation from the novel of the same name written by Zoe Heller

Barbara (Judi Dench) is a middle-aged teacher who falls in love of Sheba Hart (Cate Blanchett), the new art’ teacher. Sheba is a beauty girl and mother of two children who, unfourtunately, starts an affair with one of her pupils. When Barbara realizes of the “illegal realtionship” between Sheba and Steven (Andrew Simpson), she decides to advice to her collegue, but at the same time, she use the scandal to get closer to Sheba.

I liked this movie because It reflects the obsessive love very well. Besides, “Notes on a scandal” shows us how is manage a particular situation in a conservative institution. I have to say that I saw the movie in my house, because I don’t like the cinemas. I saw the movie with my brothers and my mom.

I recommend this film, because It is a superb psychological drama. Judi Dench is a fantastic actress and she has a posh accent, so you can compare your pronunciation with her.

The Transantiago system

Transantiago system started in 2007. It was the big project of the Ricardo Lagos’ period. This new transport system was very controversial, because many things were unfinished.

I didn’t use, frequently, the public transport system previous to Transantiago , but I think that this system has three big advantages than the old system (“the yellow buses”): Transantiago system doesn’t pollute, the levels of criminality have decreased and the people use the bip-card to pay. And, sincerely, Transantiago system is aesthetically better than pre-Transantiago system.

The Transantiago System has improved its mistakes. When the system started I had to wait a lot of time at the bus stops, besides the buses were full of people. Today, the Transantiago system is faster and there are spaces to sit.

I would propose two tools to improve the Transantiago system. First, I would make more special routes for the buses and I would put the cameras to avoid the potentials armed robberies inside the buses. Also, I would propose a decrease of the ticket value and I’d hire the service of the artists.

Well… In general, I have a positive evaluation of the system. I try to be optimist because I didn’t like the pre-Transantiago System.

Thanks for reading.

I want to visit Japan

If you ask me about one country that I would like to visit, I would have to answer: Japan, because it is a country very different from Chile, and I like very much its language.

Japanese people are very different from us, because they have other manners to interact among them, for example, they don’t shake hands as us. They are very respectful with their bodies. Theu don't touch as much as we do.

Also, the Japanese people have a strong connection with their jobs, because after the Second World War they had to rebuild their country and they worked without earning a salary. They sacrificed many things to recover their economy.

I would do many things in Japan but, firstly, I would like to meet the Japanese bohemian. I would go to a karaoke club, eat native food or wander through Tokio. Besides, I would like to play pachinko, a hazardous and very popular game in Japan. Also, I want to climb the Fuji Mountain.

I would like to live in Japan, because it is the only way to know how the Japanese life is. So, I would have to get a job. I don’t care what kind of job, because Japan is an expensive country and you need much money to survive.

About the last term

The first term of 2009 was very exciting, because I had a subject called psychopathology. The subject is the first approach of clinical psychology. I went to “El Salvador” Hospital and I examined a patient with schizophrenia. Also I learned about neurophysiology, social psychology, statistics, etc.

Beside, I learned a bit of Japanese. It was very complex because I had to learn another writing system. In Japanese you have to use ideograms called kanjis. There are two thousands kanjis; so It’s necessary to have a big memory.

In winter’s holydays I read two novels: “El resto es silencio” by Carla Guelfenbain and “Tokyo blues” by Haruki Murakami. I liked very much the two books, because they were fresh and urban stories. I read them in the subway.

I did daily activities with my family, nothing special. We celebrated the everybody else’s birthdays. I had some classes of swimming. It was a great experience because I learned the two basics styles: kroll and backstroke.

I downloaded music in Japanese of Ikimonogakari and Angela Aki. Also I saw the Taiwanese film “Formula 17”, a romantic and funny story. You have to see it.

I don’t remember other activities, so I say goodbye.

blogging experience

Today I'm talking about my blogging experience. I think It was very cool, because I could improve my english looking up on "Wordreference" every word that I didn't know. Looking up words on internet is more faster than looking up in a dictionary.

When I wrote on my blog I imagined that many people read my post so I throw improve my english every time. Beside, I could improve my creativity because many stories that I wrote didn't happen.

Sincerely, I don't have any objection about this experience because It was extremly funny and useful. I never had not had a blogsite before, so It was a experience to know how make one.
I think that it was a great experience.

Thank you Miss.

ideal job

Sincerely I have an ideal job, but It's not directly related to my career. I want to work in a embassy, because I like languages very much and I like social contact. This ideal job needs social skills: patience, oratory and emotional contact, and -obviously- you have to know the language (you have to know how to pronounce the words correctly and how to use the grammar properly)

I would be a good translator because I have the social skills and the motivation to learn any language, because I like to learn about another cultures so much. In fact, If I had the chance to work in other country, I'd move immediately.

I think that It's difficult find a job like that, because all the people who work in embassies have contacts, so the "meritocracy" doesn't work in this job. But although, I don't have contacts, I won't lose the desire to work in an embassy.

my fav subject

Well... In this semester I have seven subjects ; 6 refers to my career and english. Sincerely I like all my subjects because I love my career, but If I have to choose one I would choose english. Yes, I like very much languages, so I like english, because I can practice all that I know and correct some mistakes.

The subject is given by Miss Rosa Zagal; she 's a very nice person and a good teacher, because if you have some doubt with something (words, etc) she doesn't have any problem to help you. Beside she is very patient with us.

I like vey much the classes in the lab, when we must write on our bloggers. I have learnt many things like prsent continous, present perfect, comparatives, superlatives, etc. I allready knew some contents that I said before, but with the classes I have remembered some details.

Well... that's all for today. Bye

about Sir Ken Robinson words

Creativity and “atypical skills” are very important in the personal development, so I’am agree with Ken Robinson. If you review some studies you can find several correlations between creativity or artistical skills and health development (including better in your immune system).

Math, language and science are in the top of the educational system because we inherit of the Industrialism the importance of the utility of the things and actions. We forgot the power of the ideas, “new ideas”, and our body. For that reason artistical careers have lower students than engineer or medicine. Our society prefer those careers because doesn't require deep reflections.

Other point that I want to emphasize is the importance of the mistake in the development of "new ideas", the mistake is the first step to think how resolve some cognitive problem.

Ken Robinson propose a new way to see the education and he support his ideas with funny examples so I think he is a good speaker and I'm verY agree with him.

¿future?

Certainly I don't often think about the future because I don't wanna get worried about it. But I have to assume I 've got some plans to my future.
I would like to be working in a school or company as psychologist or translator. Beside, I would like to live in a flat, I hope to be independent very soon, because I want to take care of myself. I think that I 'll be a single man so I will be able to do everything that I want, for example travelling around the world.
As a psychologist I hope to be a good professional , so I will try to do the best. I would like to learn some languages. I hope to fall in love sometime, but the love isn't really important to me right now.
In five years from now I hope to be doing my master because I must specialize my knowledges.

The best in my career

Today, I'm going to talk about one of the most important person in my area; Sigmund Freud.

He was born in Vienna in 1856. He was a psychiatrist who founded the psychoanalytic perspective. Beside, He said that human being is determinated by his unconscious. Unconscious is a dimenssion of our mental apparate, It express in dreams and lapsus linguae (unsuccessful acts). Freud also proposed a new way to do psychoteraphy, He recognized the power of words, so He developed the "talking cure". For Freud sexual desire is the most important motivational energy, so all the time It tries to be satisfied. Some disciples of hime are Jacquez Lacan, Anna freud and Melanie Klein.
I like Freud because He proposed a new way to understand human being, because He didn't use empiristic or possitive methods to comprehend him/her. He is more rationalist than others.

my career

I chose langauges when I was 17 years old, because I have always wanted a career about culture and society. I like my career very much, and I have good marks.

In these five years I have to learn 3 languages: english, german and japanese. Each language has his own difficulty, but I love them anyway. I like the japanese writing and the german pronunciation (although it's very hard, because there are sounds that spanish doesn't have).

During these months I 've realized that the english is easier than spanish, because you can use one word to express many things. There is one big difference between the english/spanish/german and the japanese, because the last It has this grammar structure: subject+object+verb.

I have a lot of expectations for my professional future: I would like to become the best translator, and I would like to travel arround the world to practice my languages.

my photograph

When I was in Tokio I could take many photographs of the places that I visited. But, one of them, I have liked very much.

This photograph was taken in the central park of the city. In the photograph appears a woman who wears a kimono dress and carries a bluetooth. I like very much this photograph because It reflects the harmony between the tradition and modernity in Japan. Beside, the woman is smiling, and for me, her smile says: "We can unite our rooths and the technology without problems".

In fact, Tokio has a lot of traditional and modern buildings. I remember one traditional house between two big and modern buildings; when I saw it I thought that Japanese engineers were wonderfull, because they could respect theirs own rooths.

I hope the same thing in my country, because we can't be modern without our culture.

my music

today I'm talking about my precious posession: my music.

I have all the music that I want. My music reflects my life and It makes me remember differents situations and people that I've met in the past. My music is emotionally meaningfull for me that's why I spend most my lifetime using earphones.

If I like very much an artist I do the impossible to get some single of him/her so that so far I've accumulated a lot of songs in stranges languages on my computer. I like differents styles of music: pop, rock, indie. So I always have my pendrive with a variety of artists.

Sometimes I spend a lot of time downloading albums of the artists that I like, that's why there are times in which I wake up with big bags under the eyes.

my last vacation

Two months ago I went to Shibuya, one of the most important street of Tokio, Japan. It was great.

I went on my own, so I had to find a flat to arrend during 3 weeks. The first Week I visited the building of Toyota company. I did a tour and I met how the Japanese people work. They were very efficient, they didn't spend the time smoking or reading newspapers on internet. Also, I played pachingo, an urban hassardous game, very popular in Japan.

Japan was so different. The people was very polite and they helped to anybody who needed, specially to foreign people. I travelled through Tokio on subway, It was a bit complicated but more cheap than bus, in fact you can buy a special ticket to travel arround Tokio during a week, only for 140 bucks. Shibuya is the most popular street arround Japan, because many people cross it.

I loved Shibuya's nigth life because you can do many activities. For example I went to Karaoke with my neighbor, Yuki. And then we went to eat the japanese hot-dog (with Sushi). I liked very much. You can find it near of subways stations The last week in Tokio I visited the central park. It was enormous and very clean.

I could see to my favorite japanese singer Angela Aki at Kotodama Stadium. It was fantastic, because Angela sang very well and she played the piano with many energy. I'll never forget Shibuya, and very soon I'll visit it again.

my friend 斎藤 工...

Today I want to talk about my best friend Saitou Takumi (斎藤 工). He 's a nice guy who I met at the pool. As you can imagine, Saitou is Japanese. He moved to Chile one year ago, because He 's doing a post-grade. He is anthropologist.

We met each other, because I helped him to talk to with the swim teacher. He didn't know how to express some ideas, so I translated from japanese to spanish (remember that I'am studying languages). He thanked my help and then, we started to talk about life. I always remember that situation because he was really surprised that someone could understand japanese. I felt very useful.

We do many things together: go to concerts, drink or eat. We are together the most time on weekends. I like his smile very much, he is smiling all the time... as if he didn't have any problem. But sometimes I don't like that he spend many time studying. Sincerally, I don't envy nothing of him, because He is very "normal".Other than enving him I admire him.

I have many stories with him, but the most intensive one was when We failed to our classes and We went to the beach for the day. It was so great, because We walked through all the city and We shared many things together.

...but you know what I'll give him a bottle with time, because, sometimes, He need it so much.

a little about me.

Hello everybody:

My name is Austin and I live in Chile. I have two siblings, Margaret(26) and Vincent(4), we live in an apartment in the downtown. My mom is Doctor, she is 45 and she loves dance and cook for us. I have a great relationship with her, and I love that. My daddy is accounter. He is OK, I guess. I don't talk with him, because he left the house when I was 5, so I couldn't make a closer relationship with him. I grew up seeing to all my friends with their parents. It was so sad.

Well... I'm 20 and I study languages at Eatri. I love my career, I have always loved the languages and the cultures. When I finish my career I'll make a long trip, I want to meet Europe and Asia. Other thing that I like to do is swim (yes, with speedo). Swimming isn't only a sport for me, It is a style of life, a philosophy. I like the music too; Edith Piaf, I love her songs and voice. I hate the sound music and the dirt makes me angry.

I don't have a girlfriend now, sincerally I don't have time to give love. The studies and my activities spend most of my time.

I don't have another thing to say, I'll writte soon. Bye.
